I've decided to post some before and after sequences. Look back at yesterday's picture to see the same shot before Photoshop processing. I'm always amazed at the difference in a shot after a little Photoshop work. I don't consider it cheating, just one of the tools. In a case like this, the clouds were more prominent via the camera sensor than they were in real life. It's a good reminder to me to take another look at some images that I might have passed over on my first review.
This shot was taken on the same trip as my Sand Cave shot, which you can see on my portfolio page. The beautiful cloudy atmosphere in that shot also created this one. This was the one break in the clouds we had for the entire weekend, about 20 minutes.
I recommend you open yesterday's image in a new window so you can see them side-by-side.

Beautiful shot Philip! Of course photoshop is a legitamate tool. Honestly, I don't understand those that don't agree. All the masters including Adams, Bullock, Cunningham and Weston manipulated their images. They just used enlargers, different papers to control contrast, pushed their film and extended development to change the latent image. Photoshop gives greater control of the photo than the old master had! I guess I'm just trying to say, "I agree with you."

Me too - gotta say the first image is one I wouldn't really have looked at but this is stunning!

Great photo and colors! Turned out awesome! I always like to leave an original layer in Photoshop and once it's done it's fun to hide all the new layers and see the change from original to final. And I agree with everyone else...Photoshop isn't cheating at all. I was always told it doesn't matter how you got there, the final result is all that matters.

Excellent! What a difference! I might have deleted the previous shot! Great work! Editing pictures is one of my favorite things to do! That's were I can be more creative and make my shots better... By the way, you are an excellent photographer...

@Sandrine: Thanks so much for the kind comments Sandrine. In fact, I did pass over this shot the first time I sorted. It was after I processed a more obvious photo and really made a dramatic difference that I realized I probably had some other less obvious shots that could be hiding some beauty. I take so many shots though that it is difficult to do this type of restoration, so I'm sure I have several more sitting in my library waiting for a chance!
