Wanted - some TLC
These tractors are on the foreshore at Saltburn. They are used by the local fishermen to move their boats across the beach to and from the sea. After a while the saltwater takes its toll. These tractors have been standing all winter waiting for the new fishing season to begin.

They look wonderful don't they? There's 'something' about rusty old machines that has an appeal. I wonder how long they'll last
Pilgrim: Hi Ellie. They don't last many years if they aren't looked after. They have all had a working life on a farm before ending up pulling fishing boats so could be up to 30 years old. Some are given a lot of care others, like this one, get neglected. David.
That is a gorgeous piece of machinery.
Pilgrim: There are a lot of old tractors along this stretch of the NE coast used for hauling small fishing boats to the water. Some are in better condition than others. Generally however they all gradually rust away and stop working. This tractor is probably 30 years old or more and will have had a working life on a farm before being relegated to this life. David.
Bit of WD40 should sort em out! Nice shot. Recently found some shots from decades past of the ex military 4wds that dragged the pleasure boats out at Blackpool, they just kept painting over the rust!
Pilgrim: Yes, lots of WD40 and some dynamite down the plugs should get it started. It must be a 'man thing' but I just can't resist the scruffy stuff - old machinery, worn out fishing boats, geriatric buildings etc. Maybe it's because I'm getting to that state myself. David.
I think kids of all ages love to see machines like this, David. Great capture!
Pilgrim: Hi Ginnie - hadn't thought of this from the 'big-boys' toys angle but I think you have hit the nail on the head. Maybe that's why a lot of my images feature fishing boats (your not a shrink are you?). I always wanted to drive a tractor but have never had the opportunity. Mind you, looking at this one Idon't think it would go very far!! David
Very nice shot David. I must say I am surprised that Mal hasn't been near these or are you keeping the location secret?!!
Pilgrim: Thanks Neil. I'll be surprised if Mal hasn't been here before me........I seem to post images of stuff he has already done! David.
Lovely capture David.
Pilgrim: Thanks Bridge. I have a soft spot for old bits and pieces like these, especially showing signs of decay - bit like looking in the mirror these days. David.
Nice photo David. they look like I feel "clapped out".
Pilgrim: Thanks Mike. The looks are deceiving. I've seen these heaps of junk start after being left for months at a time... unless they've fooled me and come down the night before and given them the kiss of life. David.
the thing is that these old tractors actually do work! lol, seen them pulling boats around several times, love the shot. mal
Pilgrim: I thought you might have beaten me to these!! You seem to be ahead of me most of the time...... or are have you kept something up those long sleeves of yours? David.
