color (yesterday) or monochrome?
too much going on right now, so i haven't been able to catch up on everyone's blogs--and it's looking like it's only going to get worse. this is actually exciting for other aspects of my life but something has to give... i'll still be posting photos as i can, but since photoblogging is supposed to be my stress relief, not a source of stress (e.g. feeling bad when i'm unable to respond to comments or follow your work--not only because i so appreciate your having doing that for my work but also because i enjoy seeing and being inspired by yours), this will unfortunately have to be one of the things that 'gives.' again, danthro is not disappearing, just appearing less.
Comments, feedback, criticism, suggestions, etc. are always appreciated. Thanks! Image too large? Click the 'small' link in the bottom right corner for a smaller view.

i prefer the monochrome.
it is surprising how much thought and preparation can go into photographing benches...

@jmb: you're right. i should probably work on putting that time and energy into more meaningful photos... those are sometimes the hardest.
It looks stunning like this. Beautiful.

Definitely the monochrome... it is more intense in many ways ;)

Well after a good bit of study, I've decided to go with the monochrome. I especially love the grass in the color version, but in the monochrome it's the sky that wins it for me. Beautiful work!

@Ron: thanks a lot, Ron! i think i see what you mean about the grass versus the sky. thanks again for your visit and insight.

@Melissa: thanks. gets kinda hard to tell that kind of thing after i've been staring at it for so long.
I like the B&W version. I think you did a great job on the conversion.

I like the monochrome version best. It evokes more emotion for me. It also brings out the texture in the wood. Nice work.

I believe I prefer this monochrome version - the lines of the bench lead the eye to the tree and the nice vignette holds the eye in the frame.

@Kevin at OrganicPIX.com: thanks. by the way, also thanks for sharing how you do your sepia in photoshop -- came in handy here.
monochrome wins! the bench is fanning out from the tree, capturing light. cool shot.
