The 5 girls behind her are making poor immitations. The orange t-shirt is the best of the 5, but she is still not leaning into the dance.

When the toyi-toyi is done in real life there is a very rhythmic slap of feet accompanied by droning songs. Impressive when done by a few thousand down the street.

Ogonna Nneji: Indeed, I remember the toyi toyi part of the song. I agree with you on the fact that these Brits underestimated the power and passion required to perform the song. The leader was exceptional however, with so much passion and drive poured into the song, she was phenomenal. Such great tradition is always pleasing to watch, nevertheless. The dance is called the Gambut dance. Not sure if its spelt "Gamboot". I saw lots of it when i went to SA in "06. Nice marching shot...
