I have always liked this photo. I was in Sao Miguel, just outside the town of Nordeste. Our host pulled over to inquire about something and I was walking about taking photos. I walked a little down the road and found this great old tile roof. On that trip I took my Nikon F2 and a 50mm lens. I shot only black and white film and the resulting photos kind of have an old fashioned look because of the limitations of the lens. Had I brought digital equipment I would have shot about 100 photos of this roof. With the limitations of film, I took only several. This is my favorite.

I love tile for a roof covering, but homes I've seen with it have always been out of our price range. Strange to see the rock there. Neat image.

Love the shades of grey. Fantastic B+W. The rock really makes it for me, gives it impact.

@Kris: Thank you Kris, it is all about the rock for me as well. It can get a little tiring explaining to some people about selective focus and intentional blur. It's cool when people can see something for what it is. Thanks for your comment, it let's me know you're seeing what I'm seeing.
Great picture... I like the rock!

@Sandrine: Thank you Sandrine. I wasn't complaining about the people here when I was writing about the rock. Instead I was commenting on people who see the image on the wall in my living room. Thanks for recognizing though!
I love this picture. Those old tiles are beautiful.

Lots of reasons to love this photo. Nicely composed and great bw texture are just a two.
