Montreal is one of my favorite cities in the world. One of my favorite places to take photos in Montreal is in the old port. There's great architecture and things to photograph. I find that early Sunday mornings are the best for what I like to shoot. This is the corner of a building. I just thought the composition and intersections of the various elements were interesting.

Montreal in spring is indeed a marvelous city. And you're right: this photo has two (at least) readings: one is the more obvious architectural interest, the other is the more conceptual contraposition of 2 different styles side by side: the more "arabesque" pilar base and the more "primitive rationalist" window frame. Well, maybe it's only me who sees those strange "contrapositions"... anyway... the shot is nice.

While my own explanation would lack the informed architectural language you used, I do agree with you about the juxtaposition of the styles.
