This shot was given the honor of being voted a favorite in the macroday 'engraved' challenge. Thanks to everyone who visited or voted!
too much going on right now, so i haven't been able to catch up on everyone's blogs--and it's looking like it's only going to get worse. this is actually exciting for other aspects of my life but something has to give... i'll still be posting photos as i can, but since photoblogging is supposed to be my stress relief, not a source of stress (e.g. feeling bad when i'm unable to respond to comments or follow your work--not only because i so appreciate your having doing that for my work but also because i enjoy seeing and being inspired by yours), this will unfortunately have to be one of the things that 'gives.' again, danthro is not disappearing, just appearing less.
Comments, feedback, criticism, suggestions, etc. are always appreciated. Thanks! Image too large? Click the 'small' link in the bottom right corner for a smaller view.

Great shot. The black and white brings out the texture.

Cool shot and rather moody the way the numbers get smaller and more obscure!

Terrific tones and textures ... you could get lost in the depth of detail ... great work!

Terrific razor-thin depth of field - the subtle horizontal lines provides for a nice 'wood grain' feel and really brings out the detail. (The numbers have me wondering if you are pulling some mathematical educational technique like Oswegan ;-)

Interesting effect with the DOF. It reveals the wood texture, perhaps better that with a 100% sharp picture. Interesting pictural research...

Before I saw that it was a locker number, I just assumed it was a hotel number. I had already starting putting together the story in my head. Nice shot.

Your macros are always very cool, and this one is no exception. The b+w treatment works very well, keeping your attention on those numbers. Great job!

Nice macro shot!

Nice shot. I woiuld have used a slightly larger dof but I don't know how much control you have over that. I like the angle and the textures here.
