Know the famous '30s painting by Weston, "American Gothic?" Here in Key West, towering some 30 feet tall outside the museum, the stern couple stands as if they had just jumped off the canvas.
Updating: I did a bit more research and found this sculpture is not 30' tall, but is 25' tall according to my source: http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photoset.gne?set=72157603783821255&nsid=79378456@N00&lang=en-us (sorry, you can cut and paste this url if you like; my computer would not let me select text on here to link direct to the url).
Talk about a weird place for these two to wind up? But behind their severe expressions, beats the hearts of true party animals...
BELLA UPDATE: Dec 4 Thurs. Bella's walk went well. Her gastric problems seem a lot better since last night; she is a bit congested though, and that's a worry with that heart condition. Still, a happy girl today. And God is good.
Bella's miracle (the one we continue praying for) is a day by day process. Which means Bella's battle for life, wellness, and needed healing for her heart isn't a sprint; it will take a while for completion. But we are encouraged by answered prayer; her condition is stable, a lesion in her heart has healed. There is more healing that is needed. And that's why Bella and I thank you for joining her prayer "team" around the world. Each of you are special blessings.

@Cheryl: Ha-ha! Me too. Definitely not your typical Key West-ers.
Good grief! 30ft tall, that's amazing. I think I would have to decline, (very politely) an invitation to their party though. :) A brilliant shot VF.

@MaryB: Ha-ha - they give BIG parties. Well actually I discovered in googling it today that the statue is only 25 ft. tall, but it stands on a five foot concrete base, so... add that and I wasn't too far off in estimating, from my vantage point.
Wow!! That really is so surreal... they do look like they just jumped off the canvas. Amazing. Hey VF, I'm back! Loving your Key West series... the cockatoo was a very cool pic!!

@amy: Thanks amy, am glad you're back, and toting that big fancy new camera, too. Wow, I am truly impressed and glad for you. I hope you enjoy learning all there is to know about it.
I just wonder what they would think if they knew what 'real life' in Key West is today! Great shot!
