Broad-billed Hummingbird (Cynanthus latirostris) L= 3.5 to 4 inches The female broadbill is more subdued in color than the male; she is green to bronze green above and medium gray below. Female hummingbirds can be hard to ID because they can look quite similar. The female Broadbill can be identified by a blackish beak with a dull pinkish orange color confined on the broad base of the lower mandible. The dull white stripe behind the eye with a sooty gray cheek below is also an identifiable characteristic.
