@Alun Lambert: The woods up here in Higher Poynton are full of them....i would say they are just about at their peak this weekend!

Congrats on catching the true blue of these wonderful flowers. I recall debate long ago about wavelengths of reflected light and stuff that could place a red cast over their color. But I agree they are a breathtaking sight like this.

I went for a shot run last night through our local woods - its the first time I've seen the bluebell carpets this year - far too much open fell running and not enough local!

You've captured it well here. Do you know the UV in bluebells used to be a nightmare for film photographers? It plays havoc with light meters and WB, so careful use of filters was a must... the way I remember it is that they come out far too dark blue without filtration. Ah, the joys of digital. The woods around Cartmel always have a good show, but I'm yet to get out there and capture anything worth seeing.

About the wavelength issue - Ronnie2c mentioned something along the same lines in a comment higher up but it's not something I'd heard about before you two mentioned it. The bluebells looked a bit washed out on the original file so I added some extra saturation and luminance in the blue and green channels until it looked more like the real deal.

I went back again the other night and got an interesting sunset version at the edge of the wood. -5ev exposure compensation! - should have spot metered it but I was in a hurry. The ground was almost left completely black on the lcd trying to preserve highlights in the bit of sky that was visible. I haven't tried processing it yet in CS3 but I had a quick go in Picasa and it looks promising.

I'll post it in a few days after the Annecy photos.
