two story house:

A teenage girl spends the night with a friend and after the parents go to bed they get into the liquor cabinet and drink straight whiskey. The first swallow burns, but the next couple of glasses, the vomiting, and blackouts are nothing more than a blurred memory.

Less than two hours later they go out a second story bedroom window, walk across the roof and sit in the summer air on top of the peak of the roof where it covers the garage. The cement driveway is below. Then, they safely go back through the window and go to bed.


two story building:

A teenage girl with a group of friends is on a two story building around midnight. Someone is heard approaching in the dark and they fear they’ll get into trouble so they scatter and run.

She ran off of the roof.

She’s alive, but she’ll never be the same.


If you live for your children, they may be smitten down and leave you desolate, or, what is far worse, they may desert you and leave you worse than childless in a cold and unfeeling world.
