For Jen, who is a fan of hibiscus flowers and has taken and posted many beautiful shots of all kinds of different hibiscus blooms. My personal favorite hibiscus color is the old classic red, like this one blooming in my garden last week.
Bella Update: 11/21/08 Friday. All in all a very pleasant morning. On our walk, Bella caught the scent (and we sighted briefly) of what looked like it was either an otter or a raccoon moving toward a lakeshore in somebody's back yard. She was excited! God has lots of surprise blessings.
Bella's miracle (the one we continue praying for) is a day by day process. Which means Bella's battle for life, wellness, and needed healing for her heart isn't a sprint; it will take a while for completion. But we are encouraged by answered prayer; her condition is stable, a lesion in her heart has healed. There is more healing that is needed. And that's why Bella and I thank you for joining her prayer "team" around the world. Each of you are special blessings.

Wonderful details and color in this, but I am not sure about the composition - I think I would have liked to see more of the details in the lower left.
Take care of yourself and Bella with that storm on it's way.....

@Chris: You may be assuming my intent was to display the whole flower; my intent was to feature the center. Of course, I did not straighten the horizon ;-o
Beautiful, VF!!

Magnificent color and detail. I love the tight framing of this large bloom. I too prefer the red over the other hibiscus, although all are beautiful.
Bella the weather should be cooler soon for your outdoor time. Stay safe during the upcoming storm.

Hopefully the storm threatening Florida is not heading to your area? I love this composition, and the color is just beautiful! Well done. Hugs to Bella.

Tropical Storm Fay/Hurricane Fay (maybe tonight) is currently projected to pass due east of where we live in Bradenton. That would put us on the west side of the storm, which is usually the least serious side. We'll probably get some wind and rain, but no tidal surges or coastal flooding. This weather should start happening tonight or tomorrow. At the VF home, we're all battened down and ready to face the storm.

Very pretty and a fitting homage to Jen; I like how the directional light defines the textures. You kn ow, in Mexico they make a nice tea out of this flower, called Jamaica, which is supposed to be very good for digestion. Occasionally, I find it on the menu at local Mexican restaurants (the more authentic ones of course, not CHiChis) :) Cheers!
