A little more information on the passion fruit vine. The fresh or dried leaves are widely used in herbalism and are well known as being used as an infusion, a tea that is used to treat insomnia (amongst many other things).

I've come across many sites regarding the history of this plant. They all seem to be varying accounts that are similar in nature. This is a brief history from Wikipedia. "Passion" does not refer to love, but to the Passion of Christ on the cross. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Spanish Christian missionaries discovered this flower and adopted its unique physical structures as symbols of Crucifixion.

Red VW on Winchester

Winchester AvenueAshland, KentuckyI caught sight of this nice red bug awhile back then found that it belongs to an artist at the Pendleton Art Center. Can't miss with a red VW bug as a subject. There are lots of things going on in Ashland this week because of the festival. There will be a parade on Friday evening, but don't forget that the First Friday Art Walk is going on at the same time. Browse through the downtown art shops after the Parade, if you have a chance.

Graffiti Bridge Gators

Back in the middle of May, Graffiti Bridge got a new coat of paint courtesy of some local Florida Gator fans. I love the scale. The vision. They didn't just tag it. They painted the whole thing. I complained a bit on the original Graffiti Bridge at Night post about the quality of the graffiti on the bridge and while this may not rise to the level of high art, (that would require the colors crimson and white) it's a step. They at least had a plan.It only took a day or two for new tags to show up and now, a few weeks later, it's completely back to chaos. And that got me thinking. Maybe I was wrong in my first post. Maybe it's not about the quality of the individual tags. Maybe the beauty of this landmark graffiti target is that it's constantly moving and changing and becoming something new all the time. When people first see it, they tend to see an eyesore. It's only after you live with it for a while and it becomes part of you and part of your town that you appreciate it. That's pretty cool. -Just finished reading "No Country for Old Men" tonight. A page turner that reads like a screenplay. They should make a movie out of it.-Just bought R.E.M.'s "Live form London" on iTunes, sold exclusively on iTunes and actually recorded at an Apple Store. I'm not making that up. I wonder if it was mixed with Garage Band. Hope you're having a week that is good.

I haven't posted for ages, I know. Does this mean that I have lost interest in photoblogging? I don't think so. I haven't being doing much photography at all lately, and the little I have photographed is not worth posting here. Today's effort is borderline, but it will do. A salmon. We ate it. It tasted good...
