William Shakespeare wrote, "At Christmas I no more desire a rose than wish a snow in May's new-fangled shows; but like of each thing that in season grows."Those words are no doubt easier for me to appreciate than someone who is enduring a long, harsh winter. As I peruse your sites, observing the dusting of snow or a capture where the land is laden heavy with snow that will still be melting in May, I recall fighting the harsh elements. This bloom was among the last of the summer blooms and at this very moment in time a beautiful yellow pansy is in full bloom in it's stead.Yesterday it was covered with a thin layer of ice and was just as content as it was in todays sunshine of 45 degrees fahrenheit. When someone looks at one of my photographs I want it to touch all their senses. I want them to feel the gust of wind that blew the man's hat off or the gentle breeze that moved the curtains. They can almost hear the music that the lovers were dancing to or even be able to draw on a memory of what the day in the photo smelled like.- Marsha Cairo, (Photographer and Artist)
