Lantern Slides : Closing and Closer

This is a strobist inspired shot taken in the studio. I was teaching a first year class and we used the strobist shoot as our inspiration to see what we could come up with. This is shot with two lights, just as in the strobist shoot, although we use studio heads as opposed to speedlites. Now I will give the lighting crew top marks, and the plastic bag cyan gel was a stroke of genius, but the stylists need to realise they have to lift their game if they want to be serious ;) The shot was full of fingerprints and bits in the water (oops I mean vodka) and it took me ten minutes to clean up in Photoshop.
But seriously, it was a bit of fun, and I think it's a great result to see what you can do with a cardboard box, a few props and a couple of lights.

While driving up to the cottage in collingwood I was able to snap this beautiful shot. It's simple yet serene.
