Last weekend we crossed the border into Holland. Somewhere on the road i saw an old windmill and just in front of the windmill there was this ad for a Golden Earring concert, Holland's greatest Rock Band ever.
I suddenly remembered when i was a kid that i used to ride my bycicle while listening to my Sony Walkman playing "When the lady smiles".
Yeah.. those were the days... ;)

In about a week, we're going on a roadtrip through the south of France. Beautiful lavender fields, small French villages, fine wine, lots of sun, historic cities and the Mediterranean culture and cuisine.... what more can we possibly ask for?

A brass band played in front of Cork City Library today and I made this shot while waiting with Phil and his brother Christopher for Damien to appear.

We didn’t make it to Robodock in the end. I was busy and exhausted with a sick baby all morning and I think I’m lucky I managed to get into town at all! Nice to meet up with everyone, including Donal later on in The Newport.

Baby Adam is feeling much better after a lot of care and nursing. Doctor says he’ll be right as rain (and we get enough of that these days!) by Monday. Phew. Poor fella is really suffering.

There is always a slight pain and joy when I utter those words 'I'm out of here' which indeed I am for a few weeks. The need for warmth and to replenish my photo stocks of Crete has become to great and so I'm off back to the beautiful Island of Crete! One of these days I'll manage to go somewhere else but for now I don't think this will do me any harm. I have to say my hayfever is not a problem there so I look forward to a slightly easier time with regard to that and as the English summer seems to have dissolved these last 2 years, (if in fact we ever had one) this seems to be the only way to guarantee some sun. I think if my memory serves me right we had a nice summer in 1976. We must be due another soon!
As always my base will be the beautiful mountain village of Kritsa (Κριτσά). Here is a map of where I am located, the little marker is just about where the house is. That's you looking at me and here is what I see looking towards the sea.

If you fancy some film goodness whilst I am away then you can do no better than popping over in the direction of the Filmwasters Blog. The images change there every day and you can access all of the blogs and sites via the images. Hell, if it's a little community that you are after then why not joint the Filmwasters Forum. A more positive thing you'd be hard pressed to do if film is your bag. Not into film?....well they may tempt you back from the dark side.

And so the photo. Aghios Ioannis (Άγιος Ιωάννης) is the village. Anyway this place was just wonderful for empty homes, as far as I could tell part of the problem with them sitting empty was an access problem, they needed major work and there was no vehicular access always going to put off prospective renovators. Half of the village that has access seems in very good shape. Perhaps these will be left to slip peacefully away. I need reasons to return!
I guess I could be shooting myself in the foot revealing where these gems are but as long as you promise to not tell anyone I will show you where Aghios Ioannis (Άγιος Ιωάννης) is. Here's an aerial view. Remember mum is the word!
