I'm a self-employed graphic designer living in Dublin, Ireland, with a lifelong passion for photography which I inherited from my dad. He was a keen amateur photographer in the days of home processing and printing, and I loved to watchg him at work and help him out in the darkroom. He had a beautiful Rolleiflex camera which I was allowed to take with me when I travelled, and I got a great kick out of using it. Things are so much easier in these digital days. All too often in the past I'd leave a film in the camera from one holiday to the next, unprocessed simply because of the invonvenience of having to take it to a mass-production photo outlet. Downloading to my Mac and using iPhoto or Aperture as my digital darkroom has brought me back to the original heady days of fascination with photgraphy in general, while photoblogging in turn has forced me to carry my camera with me as a general thing, rather than merely bringing it away whenever I go abroad on holiday. It'sd like a re-awakening, and I'm enjoying every minute! |
