Kris Van de Vijver, of Belgium, is authentic and adventurous. He is willing to go out on a limb with his photography and try new and inventive methods of bringing his subject to the viewer. Muted, gritty, scratched, and film-like, Kris allows the image to come through the processing to make a statement. A simple portrait of a couple becomes a glimpse into a moment of their lives -- one that won't be repeated exactly the same ever again.
Kris often creates a collection of images that tells the story in a way one photograph never could. Each image, brave in its own right, then becomes a piece of the collective, growing and manifesting into a larger image that portrays a scene. Kris is a story-teller. He begins the story, gives it to his viewers, and allows them to carry it forward.
