Bob and Jeannie Conleys' obvious love for the outdoors is apparent in their photography. More often than not, we, the viewers, feel like we're a part of their explorations. With a degree of retro post-processing, many of the Conleys' photographs evoke a bygone period that is full of nostalgia, longing, and passage.
Whether it is a rolling green hill, a ski slope, or domesticated animals, the Conleys are able to transport us. Their insight into the corporeality of spaces is ingenious. No longer is a photograph just an image, but it becomes a space that we can enter, take part in, and leave with a better sense of ourselves.
