I have written about the dreaminess of some photographers' works. Susannah Conway, however, takes it to the next level. Not only does her photography have a dreamy feel to it, but because it is often simple pieces of a scene, we are given only glimpses into that otherworldly space. We are never quite able to see the entire scene without some type of omission.
The omissions are important, yes. But it's what Susannah leaves behind that really tells a different story. A bright pair of red shoes in a woman's hand, the tips of the toes of shoes, and subjects intentionally hiding their faces give us insight into a hidden, secret world that is slowly revealed like the unwrapping of an exquisite gift.
