At VFXY Photos we are dedicated to recognizing the quality photoblogs throughout the community! This
page lists photoblogs that we've recognized weekly.
While the number of women in photoblogging is a definite minority, roughly 19% of registered VFXY photobloggers are women, the Weekly Pic-k is about the quality of the photographs and encouraging us all to look beyond gender, cultural identity, nationality, and style. Diane Varner is an excellent example of the quality and talent women are bringing to the photoblogging arena.
Varner is all about the details. She writes, "I've discovered that while paying attention to the small but miraculous details of nature, one can actually tap into the beauty and expansiveness that exists within each of us." In her journeys through her Northern California habitat, she finds a way to share with us the intimacy and specialness of the land. Few of us pay enough attention to those details to get to that place. Varner does. In doing so, she takes our breath away and gives it back a moment later with a new, profound insight into the workings of the world below our feet; a skill not mastered by many.
Varner combines her love of photography with a daily walk with her beloved companion, a dog named Boomer. Not only are we being shown how beautiful the world is around us, but as we journey with her on these walks, we can almost smell the salty air, taste the dew on our lips, and smile as wildlife, and Boomer, delight in a romp along the California coastline.
